Wood River Valley resident Demi Moore will receive the Vision Award and Pamela Anderson and Gia Coppola will receive the Pioneer Award over the weekend of Dec. 5-8.
“We’re excited to honor Demi Moore, who has longstanding ties to and a residence in Sun Valley,” festival Director Candice Pate said. “Her extraordinary career has consistently broken barriers and defined what it means to be a visionary in Hollywood, making her the perfect recipient of our Vision Award.
She got her start in Hollywood with “St. Elmo’s Fire” and was a part of the iconic Brat Pack in the 1980s. She married fellow actor Bruce Willis and her nude cover on Vanity Fair magazine while she was pregnant made her an instant legend. Her roles in “Ghost” and “Indecent Proposal” helped cement her status.
Locally, Moore is legendary for her and Willis’ rehabilitation of downtown Hailey, as they owned several buildings, including the Liberty Theater, for roughly 20 years until they donated it to the Sun Valley Museum of Art in 2017, and The Mint, which was a dive bar until they refurbished it in the mid-1990s, according to past Express articles.
Currently, Moore is featured in “The Substance,” and Taylor Sheridan’s “Landman” (which also stars Sun Valley local Ali Larter). After the screening of “The Substance” on Saturday, Dec. 7, Moore will also participate in a Q&A.
The Sun Valley Film Festival is also hosting screenings of “Porcelain War,” “Blink” and a curated series of shorts from The New Yorker.
“This Winter Screening Series lineup represents a celebration of bold storytelling and cinematic excellence, which will be a perfect showcase for our film-loving audiences, including Sun Valley-based guild and AMPAS members in advance of voting for award season,” said Teddy Grennan, the festival’s executive director.
